Bengaluru’s top cop to face the case of curfew violations

Bengaluru (Dec 27th, 2012) - Kamal Pant, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner stated Monday that criminal cases would be filed against anyone who breaches the curfews imposed Tuesday by the governmentFearing the spread of Omicron, the ruling BJP has imposed a night curfew in the state from December 28 through January 7.

This clampdown has ended New Year festivities in the state.

According to the governments orders, a curfew in Bengaluru will be enforced between 10 p.m.- 5 a.m.He stated that there is no room for activity in bars, clubs or other commercial establishments.He warned that anyone found breaking the curfew will face charges under the National Disaster Management Act.He added that the police wont allow people to roam after midnight curfew.He stated that vehicles and persons will not be allowed to move on M.G.Road, Brigade Road and Indiranagar at 10:05 p.m.On New Years Eve, the police will enforce curfew by taking extra precautions.These areas are home to most of the popular restaurants and pubs.

Bengaluruans have always celebrated the new year at M.G Road or Brigade Road.To allow these celebrations, vehicles were stopped from moving.

All areas will have CCTV and passes wont be allowed.He said that anyone who needs to leave in an emergency must provide proof.
