Bhubaneswar : , Nov 16, 2016 : .The State Election Commission of Odisha increased the poll spending limit for candidates for Sarpanch and Panchayat Samiti members, as well as Zilla Parishad members.SEC secretary R.N.R.N., secretary of the SEC.Sahu issued three different orders last evening on enhancement of poll expenditure limit of candidates, use of vehicles by candidates and polling hours.R.N.Sahu, secretary of the SEC issued three separate orders last night regarding an increase in poll expenditure limits for candidates, vehicle use by candidates, and voting hours.
As per the order, the poll expenditure limit for Zilla Parishad (ZP) members has been enhanced from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, while each candidate contesting for Panchayat Samiti member and Sarpanch now can spend up to Rs 2 lakh.
According to the order, Zilla Parishad members can now spend as much as Rs 2 lakh on polls, and each Panchayat Samiti member or Sarpanch may also use this limit.
Earlier, the election expenditure limit for the Sarpanch and Samiti member candidates was Rs 80,000.The election spending limit for Sarpanch members and Samiti candidates was Rs.80,000.
Similarly, the candidates contesting for Zilla Parishad member can use up to five jeeps or cars and 10 two-wheelers, whereas the Panchayat Samiti member candidates can use maximum two jeeps or cars and five two-wheelers.The candidates for Zilla Parishad members can also use five cars or jeeps and 10 two-wheelers.
Panchayat Samiti candidates are limited to two cars or jeeps and five two-wheelers.
The candidates contesting for Sarpanch can use two jeeps or cars and five motorcycles.
Candidates for Sarpanch may use up to five motorbikes and two cars when they are driving.Use of auto-rickshaws has been allowed as well.Auto-rickshas are also allowed.
However, the ZP candidates will have to submit details of the vehicles to the sub-collector whereas Panchayat Samiti members and Sarpanch candidates will submit the details to Block Development Officer (BDO) concerned.
The ZP candidates must submit vehicle details to the sub-collector, while Panchayat Samiti members or Sarpanch candidates need to send details to the Block Development Officer (BDO).The candidates will have to disengage the vehicles from services 36 hours prior to the polling.

The SEC has also extended the voting time.SEC also increased the time for voting.Now, the voting will be held from 7 a.m.to 1 p.m.The voting will now take place from 7 AM to 1 PM.Earlier, the polling was conducted from 7 a.m.to 12 p.m.The polling took place earlier from 7 a.m.until 12 p.m.
