Ottawa, January 1, 2019 : .Canada has seen its highest number of Covid cases in a decade.This spike is being driven by Omicron variant.Friday’s report showed 41,210 cases.It was the most daily cases in Canada since February 2020.
According to Xinhua, the latest cases brought up the total caseload of 2,183,527 in country, including 30,319 deaths.

The rapid expansion of Omicron has seen a rise in daily cases over the last few weeks.

Ontario was the largest province with 16713 Covid cases.Quebec had 16,461 new cases.

Most provinces across the country have delayed returning to school in January in order to permit public health specialists to evaluate the Omicron variant’s impact and to prevent an increase in the number of cases caused by schoolchildren.

Quebec reinstated a curfew on December 31, as it battled an increase in Covid infection.Violations of the curfew can result in fines up to 1,000 Canadian Dollars ($790 US), or 6,000 Canadian Dollars ($4,740 US).

Except for funerals, all places of worship are closed in this province.For the next three weeks, restaurants and dining areas are closed.

Stores are not open Sundays except at gas stations or pharmacies.
