Patna September 2 : The MP-MLA special court of Buxar announced the two-year sentence for 12 individuals, including an ex-Finance Minister of Rabri Devi government, Dadan Pahalwan, on Friday.Pahalwan was involved in an incident of physical assault of 2005 in his home district, Dumraon.
An FIR in the matter was filed under pertinent sections of the IPC in Dumraon police station.
The petitioner Ramji Singh Yadav claimed that Pahalwan together with his followers assaulted him in an attempt to murder the petitioner in 2005.But, he narrowly escaped at the time.
Satya Prakash Singh The ADJ of MP-MLA’s court in his verdict found that Pahalwan and his associates are guilty of physical assault.
The court has handed down two years of prison term for Dadan Pahalwan as well as 11 others.Because the sentence is not more than 3 years, the court granted them bail too.We will appeal the ruling in High Court,” said Ramanand Mishra, lawyer of Dadan Pahalwan.
Dadan Pahalwan was a four-time MLA from Dumraon.
He was elected first as an MLA for Dumraon in 2000 as an independent candidate in 2000.He later was appointed Finance Minister in the Rabri Devi government.
He was elected in 2005 on the ticket of Samajwadi Party.In 2010 he was elected again as an MLA from Dumraon on the ticket of Akhil Jan Vikas Dal.He was elected with the JD-U ticket in 2015.Since JD-U did not offer an opportunity to Pahalwan in the 2020 assembly elections, he contested as an independent candidate and won five posts.
