South Korean supergroup BTS has once more rewrote Kpops history by winning Artist of the Year at the American Music AwardsThe award was won by the septet during the 2021 AMAs.

It was broadcast live at Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles.The show beat out five other big-names -- Drake, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, according to Yonhap News Agency.

After accepting the award, RM stated in English that he was truly honored to share this stage with these incredible and tremendous artists.Seven boys from Korea, united by a love of music, met the support and love from the Armies around the globe.We would not take it for granted.We are so grateful.

"Love to give this hour you guys," RM said, referring specifically to the global fanbase, ARMY.Suga stated that he didnt expect to be awarded the award, and thanked ARMY.

BTS featured amongst the top-name acts from all walks of the music spectrum throughout the evening.The band performed two songs: Butter" and My Universe", with Coldplay performing the second song together.The K-pop band was scheduled to perform the remix of "Butter" with Megan Thee Stallion.

However, the American rapper dropped it for personal reasons.The group is likely to increase their chances of winning a Grammy nomination for Mondays performance.

BTS was the first K-pop group to earn a Grammy nomination.It became the first K pop act to win the best duo or group performance award.

This is the highest honour in music, and its single "Dynamite" made BTS history.However, it didnt win.The 64th Grammy Awards nominees will be announced Tuesday.The awards ceremony is scheduled for January 31st, 2022 in Los Angeles.
