Brendon McCullum’s critique: Joe Root has never displayed leadership qualities

Brendon McCullum, a former New Zealand cricketer has stated that Joe Root is a great leader and that he doesnt see that in England Test captainEngland lost by nine wickets in Brisbanes opening Ashes Test.

This was due to Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson, who share more than 1,100 Test wickets between them.Joe Root, which I consider a great guy and an exceptional cricketer, is also regarded as a good leader.

McCullum is 40 years old and has been playing over 100 Tests.He also scored almost 6,500 runs.McCullum spoke to SENZ Breakfast Monday.

McCullum couldnt understand why Root (who set an English record with 1,544 Test runs) has not been able lead his team after such a brilliant performance with the bat.After a disappointing first innings in which they managed just 147 runs, England lost the Gabba series 7-1.England was beaten 1-3 by India in their away series.New Zealand lost 0-1 to England in their two Test series.

In the five-Test series at home, they trail India by 1-2.The postponed final game will be played in 2022.McCullum stated that England could have their chance in the second innings, when Root and Dawid Malan were strong.
