New Delhi, Nov 29th : , States governed by Bharatiya Janata Party have done better than those governed under the Congress and its allies in terms of vaccinating their citizens. According to government data, no state that was ruled by Congress or its allies was able to give the first dose of the drug to more than 90% of its population and the second dose to more then 50% of its eligible adult population.
Contrary to popular belief, government data showed that eight BJP-ruled states have attained greater than 90 percent coverage for the first dose and eight have attained 50 percent coverage for the second dose.
According to government data, Jharkhand administered the first dose to 66.2 percent of its adult population and the second dose at 30.8 percent.
The data showed that the first and second dose coverage in Punjab and Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh was 72.5 percent and 32.8 percent, 78.1% and 42.65 percentages, 80.11% and 42.5per cent, 83.2per cent and 47.2per cent, 84.2per cent and 46.9per cent, respectively, and 86.6per cent and 39.4per cent.
Further, the data revealed that the first and second dose coverage in BJP ruled Himachal Pradesh and Goa, Gujarat and Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.Haryana, Assam, Assam, Tripura is 100 percent and 87.9 percent respectively, and 93.5 percent and 93.5 percent, 93.5 percent and 70.3 percent, 93 percent and 61.7 percent, 92.9 percent and 62.9 percent, 92.9 percent and 62.9 percent, 92.9 percent and 80.5 percent, respectively, and 63.5 percent, respectively
A senior leader of BJP said that these figures clearly show Congress’ poor performance in vaccinating people against the dreaded disease.
“They are making noise to grab headlines.He said that it would have been better if they had used their resources and energies to vaccinate the people to save lives against Covid-19.
Another senior BJP leader stated that Congress and its allies should not push for a booster dose but instead focus on administering the first dose to the people.
