BJP is now in the northeast: Assam CM

Guwahati : Jan 2, 2012: Himanta Biswa Sarma is the Assam Chief Minister and is leading the second BJP-led state government.

He stated that the BJP government of Manipur will return to power in the upcoming elections.

These are likely to take place in February or MarchSarma is also the co-founder of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance.(NEDA) stated that Arunachal Pradeshs BJP government is in power for a second time, and Tripuras party-led government would be in place for a second year in next year’s Assembly elections "NDA (National Democratic Alliance), partners supported by BJP in Nagaland Meghalaya, Sikkim.

Sarma stated that BJP had a solid base in northeastern countries and will continue to be in the region.According to the Chief Minister, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and he, along with undertaking ambitious development projects, had solved many problems in northeastern regions, such as the Reang tribe refugee crisis in Mizoram and they signed peace agreements with militant groups of Assam.

According to him, if the BJP did not return in Assam to power, Badruddin Ajmal (President of the All India United Democratic Front) would have been the chief minister of the state.Sarma stated that Ajmal was kept in check by BJPs Assam retaining power.
