On Tuesday, the court was divided. This case was admitted and will likely be heard by the court on Wednesday.
After Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay’s single-bench inquiry into the question of the improper recruitment of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education staff members in Group D, the state moved to the division bench. The investigation was opened on Monday by the Central Board of Investigation (CBI).

The salary of 25 group D employees was stopped by Calcutta High Court earlier on account of allegations of foul play in relation to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education’s (WBBSE), appointment based on recommendations of the West Bengal Central School Service.

Both the SSC as well the WBBSE were also requested by the court to submit an affidavit regarding the recruitment.

Petitioners claimed that more than 5,000 individuals had been appointed after the process had ended.

The state had recommended that 13,000 staffers be recruited in fourth grade.

In response, the WBSSC held periodic examinations and interviews and formed a panel. This panel was terminated in 2019.

Widespread allegations were made that the commission had conducted a lot of illegal recruitments, not to mention 500 or less after the expiry date of the panel. It was also claimed that the recruitments were made at the regional office.

The High Court heard a case against 25 of their appointments.Justice Gangopadhyay’s single bench heard the matter on Tuesday.

Initial thoughts of the judge were that there was some confusion regarding the appointment recommendation.

He told the commission, “Enough is enough.” The commission does not have any control over this regional office.Gangopadhyay stated that he did not wish to see another scandal and asked the commission for the affidavit.

On Wednesday, the Court not only ended the salaries of 25 of the accused Group D employees but said it will also do all that was necessary to uncover the truth.

If necessary, the CISF will seize control of the SSC offices to conduct an investigation.

On Thursday, the commission admitted they didn’t know anything about recruitment. They pleaded to have a judicial inquiry into the matter.

However, the court did not issue an enquiry order, but instead asked for an affidavit from WBSSE on Monday.
