Dhaka (Dec 14th, 2008) Bangladesh plans to intensify its efforts to give booster shots to Covid-19 after the confirmation of Omicron variant cases.
This was in response to the rapid transmissible Omicron variant surfacing both in Bangladesh and other parts of the globe. This directive was also in line with the recommendations of the country’s health consultative body.
They recommended that senior citizens and frontline workers get booster shots six months following the last dose.According to the governments National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19, booster doses should be administered to frontline workers and older people who had received the first jab less than six months prior.
It was also suggested that the Omicron virus variant be controlled by a limited number of people. The meeting was to be conducted online only if absolutely necessary.
It also stressed the need for screening, quarantine and isolation around the country as part of various beefed-up measures to rein in the pandemic. On December 11, Health Minister Zahid Maleque had confirmed that the Omicron variant was detected in two female members of the Bangladesh Cricket Team.
The cricketers returned to the country recently from Zimbabwe, he added. The Bangladesh government has recently made 14-day institutional quarantine mandatory for those returning from seven African countries as part of precautionary measures to rein in the new variant.
Bangladesh has so far reported 15,79,710 Covid cases with 28,031 deaths.ksk/ #Bdesh #booster #Omicron #fear #Cricket #BCCI #ICC #IPL #Sports #Covid #Covid-19.
