With an eye towards building future stars, the Badminton Association of India has now nominated every subsequent age group tournament until March 2022.
In January, the two tournaments of senior ranking will take place in Chennai and Hyderabad, respectively.

The junior tournaments are for U-15-17, U-17, and U-19 matches in Panchkula.Next, the senior ranking competition in Chhattisgarh will take place in March 2022.

Participation in junior and senior tournaments is compulsory.Players will have to perform well in order for them to be included in trials for inclusion in shuttlers in Senior and Junior National Coaching Camps; and for BWF International Tournaments participation and finalization in Tops Elite or Development Groups.

The pandemic caused domestic badminton to slow down for nearly 20 months.Furthermore, judging players’ performance based only on their National or International ranking doesn’t make sense in current conditions.

Ajay Singhania, general secretary of BAI, stated that the goal of the organization is to hold transparent trials and tournaments, and to ensure that players are evaluated and fitness levels are checked every six months. This will allow for fresh talent to get the chance to participate in the Camp and the TOPs lists of players.

BAI will also establish a reserve roster of junior and elite players that can be used to supplement the main shuttlers’ list if necessary.
