San Francisco, Oct 28 : Apple TV+ on Wednesday announced it has teamed up with host, writer, producer and director Jon Stewart on a first-look deal and new, original current affairs series that will mark his return to television, since his Emmy Award-winning run with “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”.

“The multiple season, one-hour, single-issue series will explore topics that are currently part of the national conversation and his advocacy work.Each season of the series will be further explored in a companion podcast to continue the discussion,” the company said in a statement.

Apple TV+ partnered Stewart and his production company, Busboy Productions, on a first-look deal on projects to be produced and developed for the service.

Stewart is considered one of America’s top social and comedic voices.

Over the past 16 years, Stewart has redefined political satire in American culture from his perch atop the anchor chair on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

Stewart and “The Daily Show” received a collective 56 Emmy Award nominations and won 20 times.

Their 10 consecutive wins for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series represent the category’s longest streak in Emmy Awards history.“The Daily Show” also received two prestigious Peabody Awards.
