Apple resumes product sales to Turkey, increasing prices by 25 percent

Ankara, Nov 28, : Apple closed its Turkish business recently due to concerns over the sharp fall in the Turkish lira exchange rate.Now, a new report claims that the iPhone maker has resumed product sales in Turkey.
According to MacRumors Apple has also significantly increased prices for all its products in the country due to inflation.

Customers who purchase the iPhone 13 Pro in Turkey now pay 19.999 TL instead of 14.999 TL earlier in the week.The Apple Watch Series 7 will be priced at 5.399, up from the 4.399, and the AirPods Pro will be priced at 3.599TL, up form 2.899TL.

The Turkish lira fell to a record low of 13.44 against the dollar earlier in the week.

At the moment, the Turkish lira equals approximately $0.078.It has fallen by almost 40% this year, and 20% in the past week.The lira’s value against the US dollar has fallen by 45 percent in the last year.

The currency of Turkey has been on a downward slide since the beginning of 2018, due to geopolitical tensions between the West and current account deficits, shrinking currencies reserves, and geopolitical tensions.

Apple’s sales in Turkey are not expected to resume until the end of the year.Currently, the inflation rate is nearing 20%, which dramatically increases the cost of goods.
