San Francisco, Nov 24, : Apple is rumored to have delayed the rollout a new feature that would allow users add their drivers licenses and IDs to the Wallet app for iPhones until the early 2022.
MacRumors reports that Apple had previously planned to launch the functionality in late 2021.Apple announced at WWDC 2021 that it is working closely with several states to enable their residents to seamlessly and securely add their drivers licence or state ID to Wallet via their iPhone or Apple Watch.
Arizona and Georgia will be among the first to offer this innovation to their citizens.Connecticut, Iowa and Kentucky will follow.
Jennifer Bailey, Apples vice-president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, stated that "The addition drivers licenses as well as state IDs to Apple Wallet was an important step in our vision to replace the physical wallet with a secure mobile wallet that is easy-to-use and secure," Transportation Security Administration (TSA), will allow select airport security checkpoints to be opened in participating airports.Customers can then use their drivers licence or state ID in Wallet at the first location.Wallet was designed with privacy in mind.
