Brisbane, Dec 8, 2008 : Australian opener David Warner said that James Anderson’s exclusion from the England side of the opening Ashes Test at The Gabba on Wednesday will be costly for tourists.The veteran pacer’s “line and length and control are always outstanding”. Anderson was not included in Tuesday’s 12-member tourist squad.The England team management felt that Anderson would struggle to cope with the five Ashes Tests.
Though there were rumors that Anderson had sustained an injury, an England spokesperson confirmed that this was not the case.Anderson was unable to manage his high-octane workload.
Warner felt Anderson’s absence from the Brisbane Test could have been a huge benefit for Australia.
Warner stated that Jimmy was out “is a big deal for us” on SEN 1170 Breakfast before the Test began.It’s not only his wicket-taking abilities, but also his line, length, and control, which are always exceptional.He is a great batsman and you can’t get on top of him so it’s important to have him out.
