Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Jhund’ Receives Stay Order From Telangana High Court

Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has already wrapped up shooting for director Nagraj Manjule’s upcoming sports drama titled ‘Jhund’.This will mark the Hindi debut of this Marathi filmmaker who gave a huge blockbuster with ‘Sairat’.

‘Jhund’ is based on the life of Vijay Barse, a Nagpur-based retired sports professor who pioneered the international phenomenon of ‘Jhoparpatti Football’ (Slum football).This film was scheduled to release in September 2019 but has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the latest reports though, the film has landed in legal trouble.It is said that a Hyderabad-based aspiring filmmaker named Nandi Chinni Kumar moved to the court, claiming that he owns the exclusive rights to make a film based on Akhilesh Paul’s life and even kick-started a film, titled Slum Soccer.

Upon hearing his petition, Telangana High Court has ordered a complete stay on the release of ‘Jhund’ in India, abroad, and digital platforms over copyright infringement.The petitioner has alleged in his claims that the footballer Akhilesh Paul cheated him.

The sports-drama is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Raaj Hiremath, Savita Raj Hiremath, and Nagraj Manjule, under the banner of T-Series, Tandav Films, and Aatpat Production.Keep watching this space for more updates!
