Megastar gets Social Media Person of the Year award

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been honoured with the Social Media Person of the Year award by Internet and Mobile Association of India.

He received the award Tuesday.

The event will be supposed to happen in Delhi , but since Big B wont be able to make it there, he was honoured in advance by a representative of the body.The 72-year-old actor took the opportunity to thank his online fans,for their support.

The senior Bachchan posted a photograph in which hes seen receiving the trophy."There is an association of social media for India the IAMAI, and they reward me with the Social Media Person of the Year award and it is time really to reward the extended family for this.

you are the ones that have made it possible for me to be given this recognition," he posted in his blog.“The ceremony is in Delhi, and since I cannot be there, they came over to present it to me and (they will) play a video of it at the function to be held in a few days,” he added.

Amitabh Bachchan is known to be extremely popular on Twitter and is also quite active on the social networking site.The actor has an average of about 20 tweets per day, followed by son Abhishek Bachchan, with an average of 10.The legendary film personality has over 12.5 million followers on Twitter and more than 18,857,196 likes on his Facebook page.
