They play the lead roles in the show.Akshay plays Dylan Shekhawat, a young journalist.Sahher plays Debjani Thakur, a news reader.

“Dil Bekaraar” is a story about love and ideological conflict set in the 1980s, when India was swept up in waves of major changes.IANS recently interviewed the actors about their experiences working with Habib Faisal, their characters and what attracted them to this show.

Sahher shares how she was cast in the show.I was pretty much on board at the last minute. After that, I did screen tests with Kavish Sinha, the casting director, and Habib Faisal sir. After that, I met many potential Dylans, and then we met Akshay. It was December or February, when we began shooting the series, that I started testing for it.

Akshay shares her thoughts and shares his own experience regarding the casting process. He says, “I too joined board at the last moment, the lockdown had just begun lifting up.Kavish Sinha called me that day to invite me to meet Habib.Habib and me actually met outside the scope of my work.”

He says, “When my career began, he was one the first people I had ever encountered.” He was working on ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ and I met him at Planman motion Pictures. We have been in touch for many years.

He is a director that every actor wants to work with.

The actress reveals what attracted her to Debjani’s character.

Although she was a 1980s character, I found a lot of common ground with her.The show is set in 1980s America, so you don’t get to do that era-specific role very often.I wanted to play an author-backed character. All these factors led me to this character.

Akshay believes innocence was the key to his acting. He says that the time was innocent.

It was a kind of romantic innocent period for India after the ’70s.Even our films were filled with love stories and poppy moments. We approached our characters keeping in view the innocence of that era.”

It can be difficult to work in a show that is set back in history.Ask Akshay what the finer details were in terms of performances.Akshay replies, “While playing an actor in a period series, or a movie, an actor must be really cognizant because these people aren’t from contemporary times.” Their persona has a certain lingo and we must follow that framework.

Sahher, in total agreement of that, said, “That’s right because Habib sir constantly reminded us about the vocabulary, but he was very clear about what he wanted, from the styling, hair, and makeup to performance. It made things much easier for us.”

The actress spoke about what a happy day looks like for her character. She said, “A happy moment for Debjani would be to get a positive review.Because she starts news reading without knowing if it is what she wants.

The trailer shows that a bad review triggers the story.Debjani is constantly working on her work to improve it.She would love to be appreciated.

Akshay ends his remarks by praising Habib Faisal, their director. He said, “Habib Faisal has been one of the most acclaimed screenplay writers in our country today.” His understanding of characters is deep.He not only knows the core of these characters well because he spent a lot time with them on paper, but he also has a solid grasp on the performances.

He explained, “He has a really great sense of rhythm, timing, and the voice in terms performance, I have seen his act out parts for other actors.

Sometimes, something written on paper is not readable for actors.Habib is very clear about what he wants.
