President Mahmoud Bassa meets AIBA chief Kremlev to discuss boxing in Palestine

Lausanne (Switzerland), Nov 24, : President of International Boxing Association (AIBA), Umar Kremlev, met Wednesday with Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian President, to discuss boxing development, and the support of AIBA for the country’s athletes.
Palestine has been an active participant at recent AIBA competitions, including this year’s Asian Boxing Championships held in the UAE and the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships held in Belgrade.

AIBA provided financial assistance to help Palestinian athletes attend the event and perform to their best.Kremlev told President Mahmoud Abdulbas that this was part of a long-term strategy for the development of boxing in Palestine.

“I would like express my gratitude to President of AIBA for supporting Palestinian Boxing.Our country was going through difficult times.

The development of boxing and other sports was slow.But now we are paying a lot more attention to this area.

“We will be happy support the creation of a Palestinian boxing academy and the implementation program for the introduction of the discipline of “boxing” into the curriculum of schools, higher education institutions, and schools.Mahmoud stated Wednesday that he hoped the cooperation with AIBA would be fruitful and lasting.

“AIBA is committed in developing boxing in Palestine.Kremlev said that he was delighted to have met the President to discuss how this can be accomplished.

“Boxing is a universal sport.Everyone should have equal access to it and be able to improve their skills.” Palestinain boxers are very talented and it is our responsibility as the international governing body for the sport to ensure that they can reach their full potential.
