AIADMK’s first MP K. Maya Thevar passes in her passing

Chennai 9th August : AIADMKs very first MP K.Maya Thevar on Tuesday passed away in his home in Chinnalpatti village in Tamil Nadus Dindigul after a condition related to age.

He was 87 years oldThe family members of the deceased informed media that the veteran politician was not doing well over the last few days, and he died due to a major heart attack.The veteran politician was picked by none other than AIADMKs founding leader M.G.Ramachandran to run in parliamentary elections.Also, the one who chose the "two leaves" symbol for the AIADMK, he was the first leader of the party to run in an election (bypoll from the Dindigul constituency in 1973) using the new symbol and win the election with a hefty margin.

In expressing his condolences AIADMK acting General Secretary and former Chief Minister K.Palaniswami said: "He was the first person to compete on the symbol of two leaves of the AIADMK shortly after the partys creation and won with a massive margin." The former Chief Minister, as well as exiled AIADMK leader O.Panneerselvam, noted that it was Maya Thevar who had selected the partys symbol.He also stated that Maya Thevar, being a practicing advocate, had litigated various matters for the benefit of the AIADMK.AMMK chief T.T.V.Dhinakaran as well as AIADMKs expelled former interim General Secretary V.K.Sasikala also expressed condolences to him on his passing.aal/vd .
