Chennai, Dec 8, 2008 : Former Chief Ministers O.Paneerselvam & Edappadi K.Paaniswami were elected as the Co-Coordinators and Coordinator respectively by the opposition AIADMK. Political observers believe that the party would function more efficiently if the decision is made.
D.Jayakumar was the former Minister in Tamil Nadu’s government and the organisation’s secretary.He said that many people had predicted that the AIADMK would dissolve after the death of Amma (J.Jayalalithaa).The party will thrive under the leadership of OPS/EPS and we will return to power in a unitary manner.”
The 2019 general elections were lost by the AIADMK, as well as the 2021 assembly election.In the recent rural body polls for nine district, the party also lost.The performance of the DMK government was good.
The AIADMK will have a tough time winning the election battle for the Urban Local Body Polls, which are scheduled to take place in late January or early Februar.
The party is facing problems due to the actions of V.K., the former interim general secretary of a party.Sasikala was expelled by the AIADMK.The unified selection of OPS/EPS has put an end to the emergence group war within the party, as well as OPS camp trying align with Sasikala.
R.Padmanabhan Director, Socio-Economic Development Foundation was speaking to IANS.
He said that “Sasikala has been taken a beating by the political move of AIADMK.This dual leadership is a new phenomenon.
If it continues, the group war in the party will come down.If both OPS-EPS work properly, they can get the AIADMK back on its feet.
Urban local body elections were originally scheduled for December, but the DMK government requested that the election be moved to February 1st week due to heavy rains.
