According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), there were others who were well-known for their fight against the Taliban.

In the months prior to the fall of the Ghani government, Kandahar was a prime target for Taliban revenge killings.Taliban fighters walked from one house to another in some areas, asking men to come in for questioning.

Ex-members of the security force were among the first to be killed.Since then, the disappearances and killings have continued.

People who worked for the previous government are most at risk.

One man claimed that Hikmat, a security officer by trade, was taken by the Taliban on September 25, 2021 in Kandahar.

He was severely beaten by the Taliban and died as a consequence.According to his friend, he was a Taliban target because of his informal relationships with government officials.

He would occasionally sit and talk with them.

This includes Ayub Kakai, Raziq’s top commander, and key colleagues from the Kandahar provincial chief police Gen.Abdul Raziq.

In late August 2021, the Taliban took him into their custody and have kept him incommunicado ever since.

Haji Lala was the former chief of police in Maiwand, Kandahar. He was taken into Taliban custody in August 2021.

His family had requested to meet with Taliban officials for information. After negotiations between Taliban officials, local tribal leaders, both Lala and Kakai resulted in their release on November 13.

On August 13, the Taliban took Lashkargah (the capital of Helmand province) and declared a general amnesty to the population.

They announced the amnesty through mosques, word-of-mouth, and social media.

The Taliban nevertheless forcibly disappeared large numbers of people who had worked under the previous government, including members of the Afghan National Police, Afghan Local Police and intelligence agencies.

The Taliban authorities have not provided any information regarding the whereabouts many of the people taken into custody, especially those who were in sangoryan, which is led by the well-known commander Muhammad Rasulyan.Their whereabouts are unknown.

The Taliban took at least 23 men from Ghazni’s districts and killed them in small groups of five to six people.

These men were members of various Afghan security forces and militias, including patsun kawanki, Afghan Local Police, and others.

Taliban fighters in Ghazni claim that all 23 executed people “had been given amnesty in the districts, but they fled those districts and moved to Ghazni.

They were taken into custody in Ghazni and ordered executed by the (Taliban court).

Taliban fighter stated, “These were all people that once, twice, or even three times surrendered (before), and we forgive them, but then they came back and fought me again and again.” The court ordered their executions.

Ghazni was taken by the Taliban.”Sadaat”, a well known commander in the uprising forces, and the ALP, remained at his home out of fear.He began to move around eventually.

His cousin said that Sadaat gained confidence and went to the bazaar one day in October on his motorcycle. We waited at home.He was not back after three hours.”

After some time, others in the area brought his corpse to the house.According to HRW, they told his cousin that Taliban-armed men had stopped him on the road and he was dead.
