Mazar-i-Sharif September 11, : A cache of weapons was found by the officers in Mazar-i-Sharif city of Afghanistan’s Balkh province after an investigation that was carried out with various kinds of weapons and ammunition being confiscated provincial police spokesperson Mohammad Asif Waziri said. “The operation was started this morning in Police District 5 and police found a rocket-propelled weapon as well as an 82 mm caliber gun, anti-aircraft guns and 54 hand grenades from the stock as well as hundreds of rounds of bullets,” Waziri told reporters here on Saturday.
Police will continue to take ammunition and arms from all non-security groups to ensure the peace and ensure security in the province, an official was quoted by Xinhua news agency.
In similar actions just a few of weeks ago, the police also seized 40 pieces of arms, including AK-47 rifles from a few persons in Balkh province.
