He was the first to popularize Yoga. This is a good thing. But he shouldn’t criticise other systems.”
When Ramdev’s advertisement in the media to promote allopathy the Chief Justice declared, “what is the guarantee that Ayurveda can cure all illnesses”.
The Chief Justice didn’t mince any words in dissing Ramdev for slagging off other medical systems, and said that he has been accusing doctors as like they were “killers”.
The lawyer representing the Indian Medical Association (IMA) pointed out the advertisements in which Ramdev made scathing remarks against allopathy. He said that the organization made representations to authorities, but there was no reply and in reference to advertisements, the lawyer stated that “they say doctors were using allopathy however, they died due to Covid’.”If this continues unabated.then it could cause serious harm for us,” said advocate Prabhas Bajaj, who represents the IMA.
The Chief Justice directed the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who represents the Centre to follow the instructions on the false advertisements of Patanjali. He advised Ramdev to take care not to abuse modern medicine systems, including allopathy.
The bench asked Mehta what he could do to explain how Ramdev and Patanjali claim through adverts in the media that allopathic doctors are murderers? The bench replied, “What is this ?.It is better that the Centre stops him.”
Following the hearing, the highest court demanded the Centre’s response to the complaint filed by IMA that it was conducting a smear campaign in opposition to the Covid-19 vaccination drive as well as modern medical technology.
