Thiruvananthapuram 26 Nov : .According to his family, Bichu Thirumala was a hugely popular Malayalam poet and won two state awards.

He died in a private hospital in this city on Friday morning.
The 80-year-old veteran lyricist was dead.He wasn’t feeling well for a while.

Thirumala was involved in an accident in the mid-1990s.He was never fully healed.Although the incident did impact his career, it did not affect his determination to continue writing poetry.

Thirumala, a native of the state capital, has penned many memorable songs and worked in over 400 Malayalam movies in a career that began in the 1970s.His prolific output amounted to more than 5,000 songs, including numbers he wrote for standalone music cassettes.

Thirumala’s most memorable songs include ‘Pavada venem, melada venem’, ‘Olathumbathu irunu’ and ‘Ayirum kanumum ayi’.These are just a few.

Suman Bichu was his only son and is now a music director.His wife, Suman Bichu, survived him.She was a state employee.

Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Chief Minister, condoled Tirumala’s passing and described the poet as a lyricist for the masses.

Vijayan stated that Malayalam films of the 1980s and 1990s were richer due to his lyrics, and that his passing was going to be a devastating loss for music lovers.
