Cairo 14 Aug : At at least nine people were killed and 18 others were injured after a minibus flipped over on the highway in the province of Minya in Upper Egypt.of Minya according to the Egyptian authorities. “The accident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday because of excessive speeding, which caused the explosion of the front tire of the microbus, causing it to overturn multiple times.” Minya Governor Osama Al-Qady was quoted in the early hours of Saturday by Xinhua news agency.
The bus, which carried 27 passengers including 13 children was traveling from Sohag province in Upper Egypt, crossing Minya and heading towards Cairo, the capital city.Cairo through the desert highway the governor said.
15 ambulances were dispatched to the scene following the incident, according to the governor, noting that 10 of the injured 18 passengers were released from the hospital.
Accidents on the roads in Egypt cause the loss of thousands of lives each year.
In the earlier days in August the collision between the microbus and a truck in Sohag caused 17 people to be dead.
In the last few years the nation has been rehabilitating its road network, constructing bridges and roads, and repairing the old ones to reduce the risk of traffic accidents.
