Moscow, Nov 26th : .Six rescuers and 52 others were killed in an explosion at a coal mine in Russia’s Kemerovo Region.
According to Xinhua news agency, it was the most fatal mine accident in the country in five years.

According to preliminary data, there was no evidence of survivors at the Listvyazhnaya Mine, TASS reported.

They also stated that most of the bodies are still underground and will be brought to the surface when temperatures and methane concentrations permit.

On Thursday, 11 miners were reported to have been killed by coal dust ignited in ventilation.

The smoke ensuing from the explosion was at 250 meters.

Regional authorities report that 38 people were admitted to hospital, with four in serious condition and 13 receiving outpatient treatment.

There were 285 people below the ground when the accident occurred, and most of them were rescued from the mine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin offered his “deepest condolences” to the families of the victims.

The Kemerovo Region has declared three days of mourning, from Friday through Sunday.
