Kanpur (UP), December 29 : , Five Samajwadi Party members were arrested for their involvement in Tuesday’s violence.An FIR indicates that Sachin Kesarwani, a SP worker has been taken into custody.
Sachin Kesarwani works for the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha.
Ankur Patel and Shukant Sharma, Shukant Sharma, Abhishek Rawat were among the others who were arrested.
Police say that a plot was underway to cause unrest in Kanpur before Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits on Tuesday.SP workers vandalized a vehicle that was carrying flags from the BJP as well as a PM Modi poster.
A PM Modi effigy was also set on fire by the SP workers.
This video was widely distributed on social media with the intention of irking BJP workers, and creating unrest at Prime Minister’s events.
During the investigation it became clear that SP workers had vandalized their car, after decoding it with BJP stickers.The police said further investigations will be conducted into this matter and that those responsible for the violence would face justice.
