Galle, Nov 30, : The West Indies were 69/1 at the stumps after beating Sri Lanka by 204 in a rain-curtailed second Test at Galle International stadium, here on Tuesday. Sri Lanka was 113 runs short of 1 at the start of the day, but Veerasammy permaul made a strong five-wicket run for West Indies.
He also bowled out his hosts on a small score.
Day 2 saw West Indies opt for spin at both ends, with Jomel Warrican’s left-arm orthodox matched with Roston Chase’s off-breaks.
Oshada Fernando and Pathum Nissanka, Lanka’s batters, continued their momentum on Monday.However, they couldn’t sustain it any longer as Fernando edged to wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva.
Although Angelo Mathews and Nissanka were joined, their hopes of a solid partnership fell short of their expectations.Veerasammy Permaul’s double strike in the second over of his spell ended their hopes of a solid partnership.
Dhananjaya De Silva, who had caught Nissanka in front for 73 runs, was penalized for being in two minds and edging to him with the gloves for only two.

Permaul took the next two wickets of Embuldeniya & Lakmal, to complete his maiden five-wicket haul for Test cricket.
It wasn’t long before West Indies wrapped up the deal and Mathews (29) was the last man to be fired.Warrican celebrated the win with a spinner.
West Indies responded by going to lunch at 2/0.Jermaine blackwood and Kraigg Brathwaite, the openers, batted well in the second session.They treated the deliveries as their merit.
They look much more comfortable against spinners from Sri Lanka, which is a huge improvement on their performance in the first match.
Blackwood (44) was close to his half-century mark when Praveen Jayawickrama struck the first blow for Lankans.
After twelve deliveries, rain fell and forced the officials to remove the players from the field.West Indies’ score was 69/1.
