Swachh Bharat Mission: 25K villages made open-defecation-free under the Swachh Bharat Mission

New Delhi, December 29, : Under Phase-2 (Swachh Bharat Mission) 25,000 villages declared themselves Open Defecation Free under the SBMThe SBM team tweeted that villagers in India were working hard to achieve ODF Plus status.

The final financial expenditure for SBM U 2.0 is Rs 1.41,600 crore.This includes a central share in Rs 36,465 crore.Its more than 2.5 times what was spent on the previous phase, as the government stated in an October statement.According to Census 2011, the second phase in SBM will focus on sustainability and ODF results, scientific waste processing in all cities and wastewater management in smaller cities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the SBM on October 2, 2014.It was created to speed up efforts for universal sanitation coverage, and put emphasis on sanitation.

According to the government, the execution of mission components would be structured and limited in time.This will include a detailed gap analysis, five-year action plans and an annual plan with timelines.
