New Delhi, Nov 30, : On Tuesday, the government announced that 113 Left Wing Extremists (LWEs), were killed in gunfights with security forces this year.25 security personnel were also killed and 93 others were injured in gunfights with the security forces this year.

Rai stated that the NHRC has published guidelines for conducting magisterial inquiries in cases of death of a person under police action.He also stated that the Supreme Court has established a detailed procedure for the investigation of a death case during a police encounter.

This is to ensure an independent, thorough and effective investigation.According to the ministers response, 25 of the 25 security personnel who were killed this year were killed in Chhattisgarh, and one in Jharkhand.

Maximum 49 LWEs were killed in Maharashtra, followed by Chhattisgarh (37) Six LWEs were each killed in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, respectively.According to the ministrys response, there were approximately 221 LWEs who were killed in 2016, 130 in 2017, 225 (2018), 143 in 2019, and 100 in 2020.
