Kochi, May 30 : The remand report filed by the Alappuzha Police probing the shouting of provocative slogans against non-Muslims by a 10-year-old boy at a rally of the Popular Front of India (PFI) that took place on May 21, points out that the young boy was tutored.

The training was given by a SDPI office bearer from Ernakulam, says the report given by the Police.

It has also been found that the tutor was a close friend of the boy’s father who is among the 26 people who were part of the rally.Boy’s father has been arrested.

Incidentally, even though the incident took place on May 21, it was only after the Kerala High Court on two different occasions spoke tough against what had happened, did the police start to take action.

Last week the boy’s father had told the media that none had tutored the boy and he did it on his own and he even said that the same slogans were raised a few times in the past and surprisingly, no action was taken then, so how come this time it is different.

Meanwhile, the police are looking into if the boy needs to be sent for counselling and are also contemplating on what needs to be done to his mother, as guardians have been held responsible.

The boy’s father was earlier identified as a known PFI activist who had participated in the Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests.

The boy was brought to Alappuzha to take part in the rally by his father and was spotted sitting atop the shoulders of a man called Anzar, and leading the sloganeering.

Anzar, who hails from Kottayam district, was the first to be taken into custody and he is now in judicial custody.

Leader of Opposition V.D.Satheesan on Monday said this shouting of slogans has been done with the full knowledge of the CPI-M as there has been a clandestine deal between these two parties as the Thrikkakara by-election is taking place on Tuesday.

The PFI has also attempted to downplay the incident saying that the slogans were against “Hindutva fascists” and not against Hindus or Christians.
