Ten Sri Lankans are arrested at B’luru Airport for Smuggling Gold

Bengaluru 22 Nov : , Officials announced Monday that the Customs Department had arrested eight Sri Lankan women and two men from Sri Lanka for trying to smuggle gold in their bodies.
The Customs officers arrested the suspects after receiving a tip.

With 140 passengers, the accused traveled from Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo to board SriLankan Airlines Flight UL 171 at SriLankan Airlines.

The liquid gold was hidden in the rectum of their bodies and should be handed to Bengaluru handlers.

While they were en route to the immigration bay, the group was stopped at the border by AIU (Air Intelligence Unit) from Bengaluru Customs Department.

The officers conducted thorough investigations and found out that 10 of the accused were hiding the gold in paste form, which was worth more than Rs 1 crore.

Further investigations are being conducted by the sleuths to find out who is responsible for managing Bengaluru.

Further interrogations will take place to determine the origin of the gold smuggling gang and the accused.

Additional investigations are ongoing.
